Details: Gutrot formed in 1986 in Woodgreen London with Stevie (Ex-AOA) on vocals, Dalb on Guitar, Darren on drums and Tim on bass, Dover Steve later replaced Dalb on guitar in 1987. Tim knew Dalb from living in Nottingham and followed him to London to start the band. The name came about after a very heavy scrumpy and vodka drinking session. The band played a major part in the North London squat scene at the time, in the summer of 1986 they squatted a social services building which they renamed the Kardboard box. This became a gig venue and rehearsal room until the band were evicted at the end of the year, monies from the gigs would always go to a good cause. Following the Karboard Box they squatted an old dance centre, which was originally a church, they called this The Ballet School. The band were actively involved in opening many squats, and making sure the Punks got a roof over their heads. To get by the band would go busking in the tube stations, begging for money to buy special brew and raiding shop bins for food. The band were known for having a bit of a stand off with Conflict at the time, I can’t really remember why, I think we probably took things too seriously back then. Gutrot never released a record, there are some rehearsal tapes knocking about though. The band knocked about with the band Axegrinder and gigged a lot with them. Darren the drummer went on to play for them. Gutrot played gigs with bands such as Extreme Noise Terror, Chaos UK, Deviated Instinct and loads of others. The band split in late 1987. Nowadays Dalb plays bass for Argy Bargy and Tim plays bass for Certified.
Details: This CD gathers material from the band's first years. Thus it presents Ação Direta with the sonority that reflected strong influence of the first generation of Brazilian punk, European and American hardcore, and that already brought guitars inspired by crossover - which defined the punk, hardcore and metal mix in the eighties. With an informative booklet that covers the era with flyers, pictures, texts, posters and drawings, the CD is comprised of "Temos que agir" [We have to act], their demo tape released originally in 1989, when they were still a power trio and the classic "Resistirei" [I shall resist] LP, from 1991, totally remastered!! 24 songs, including a version for "Aposentados" [Retired], from classic Brazilian band Psychic Possessor. A collector's must-have!! Crucial for new gerenations!
Details: A retarder mix of tradicional Brazilian hardcore with Japanese influences and samba. Here you have fifteen tracks, with lyrics in Portuguese, English and Japanese. The CD has multimedia content with two videos and a show in Santo Antônio da Patrulha (RS - Brazil) from the long tour that they did in Brazil and then Argentina and Uruguay in 2005.
Details: One of the bands is already insane by itself, now imagine both of them together in a split! Merda and Leptospirose bring five new and absolutely retarded songs, one of them being an even sicker version for one of the other band's tracks. Karasu Killer Records and Läjä Rex.Merda: www.myspace.com/merdarock
Details: Previously released in 7” vinyl, this split has finally arrived as a CD. On the Brazilian side, the wackos from Mukeka Di Rato show that they’re more pessimistic, but not without the birth of another classic: the song “Burzum Marley”, which fuses black metal and reggae combined with genius lyrics. On the Finnish side, called “I And I Walked The Line”, Hero Dishonest shows their raw punk/hardcore side, with a version of Joy Division’s “Warsaw”.
Details: Debut album from this excellent band which is a surprising revelation in Brazilian hardcore. After the first EP, released in the USA, they recorded this full-length, which conveys all the energy and power of the band. Influenced by bands like WHN?, Life’s Halt and also older stuff like Heresy, but there’s always that Brazilian band feel, that wrath that can only be found in South American bands. Fourteen punches!
Details: Follow up to their previous 10", NBR second release are 4 new tracks of full throttle rocking Crustpunk/Hardcore... A slight D Beat is unmistakable but they don´t even come close to be just a "clone" hence their still ain´t "New" as well... this is a good follow up to bands like DOOMTOWN (but way more political motivated here!) and BOMBENALARM... actually they remind me alot of the latter... NEVER BUILT RUINS a a fusion from folx living in Switzerland and the (mentally) wastelands of south germany, are nice folx and you should check out this 7" right now! Comes in a nice Sleeve bag with well don artwork. (Ruin Nation)

Details: First they released a demo, then came their first 7", and after thatcame their demo as a 7" - all of them very well received by me and Idare to say a large number of punks worldwide. In late 2007 theyvisited the studio again and returned with the twelve tracks thatbecame this LP. Charged with emotional melodies and punk attitudethey've once again created songs that are impossible to listen towithout getting completely sucked in to. I've in earlier reviews saidthat their lyrics are poetic, but that is also true about their musicand the structures of their songs. It's very poppy at times and allthis rambling about emotions and poetry might scare away some realhardcore d-beaters, but to avoid any misunderstanding I want to makeit perfectly clear that this is without a doubt punk. Punk in a pureand danceable form. Punk to which you can shake your ass whileclenching your fist - not in anger but with dedication. TheAssassinators makes me believe we can actually change the world to thebetter, even though they do address some dark topics in their lyricsas well. Still, this band gets me motivated to do what I think is bestfor myself and others and are doing so while providing one hell of asoundtrack. But The Assassinators didn't just spend time writingmusic, this LP also comes with a thick booklet full of artwork and alltheir lyrics in Danish and English, along with in depth commentaries. This band has definitely not forgotten that it's very possible tocombine punk, fun, and politics and get a very successful result. "Letthis be a declaration of love or a kick in the ass"!!!
Details: Regardless what music genre you like it always depends on if it has that special groove. You know that special ability to speak directly to the listener, so you feel the music in your spine and your groin instead of it takeing a detour through the brain. Stockholm based WOLFBRIGADE knows this very well."Comalive", their 8th fullenght, is an absolutly supreme display on groovy rawpunk. In tracks like "Ride for a fall", "Deny Tomorrow" and "Barren Dreams" they layer foaming aggression with rock solid pumping d-beat and the energy is focused on direct hits, not on undistinctive speed. This is, together with Avskum's "Uppror Underifrån", THE Swedish punk album of 2008!

Details: The Scandinavian hardcore assault of DISFEAR utilizes blistering distortion, nihilisticrage and a scorching metallic powerload to bleed the Earth and burn its skies. On Misanthropic Generation, detonating power chords collide with raging rhythms, while the merciless vocals of Tomas Lindberg (AT THE GATES) explode through the heart of the band's sonic architecture.
Details: With their ripping album "Live the Storm" , self-proclaimed "defenders of the Dbeat"Disfear once again prove why they reign supreme in all things D-beat. Live the Storm, the follow-up to 2003's explosive "Misanthropic Generation", delivers 10tracks that will definitely knock you senseless with each listen. This is the band'ssecond album featuring the legendary voice of Tomas Lindberg (At The Gates, The Crown, Lock Up) and the first to feature ex-Entombed guitarist Uffe Cederlund. "Live the Storm" remains true to the crust punk formula: D-beat, D-beat, and more D-beat; however, listeners will also notice amore varied sound in the riffs this time around. On Misanthropic the songs blast byone after another, as if being fired out of an AK-47 (not that that's a bad thing). The speed and brutality are still fully present on "Live the Storm", though the addition of Cederlund is strongly felt in the subtle melodies and more metallic-leaning riffs.

Sure enough, I likethis too. Straight forward punk in the early 80s vein melding onepart US punk and the other Scandinavian. A modern reference would beCareer Suicide meets the Regulations with Swedish lyrics. Music thatsounds stripped down and yet it's still energetic and charging. Thereis an LP version of this released by Deranged. The CD version ischock full of extras with bonus tracks that include all the previousEP's .
