FUCK GEEZ – Once Upon A Time ... LP

Details: The Fuck Geez first formed in Osaka, Japan in 1982, taing inspiration from ’77 UK punk bands as well as Japanese hardcore bands of the era. The band then relocated to Maizuru City, Kyoto, Japan in 1984. They first debuted with the “Cut It Off” flexi in 1983 followed by the”Zzz...” flexi in 1985, “Punk Rock De...7” and “Not For Sale” flexi in 1986 all on the MCR Co. Label. “ Here’s the Fuck Geez” 7” was released in 1987 on Jungle Hop International (France). The Fuck Geez also released a studio and live album in 1989 entitled “No Way To Escape” and appeared on many compilations of flexi, 7” LP, Cd and video in 1980s on the label from the US, France, Finland and more. While their sound progressed somewhat overtime, the music retained a distinctly Japanese sound and style that the country was well known for. This release contains 14 songs by the Fuck Geez and also comes with a digital download code for a Fuck Geez live show. The LP jacket and insert come in full color and remind me of the Sex Pistols in their style. Fuck Geez vocalist Yumikes remains very active in the punk scene today running the great MCR Company label.

G.I.S.M. – Sonic Crime Theraphy 2XLP

Details: Seems to be a compilation of various tracks and ideas of G.I.S.M from over the last 10 years. Some stuff is actually familiar from the Gai Individual Social Mean video that came out in 1995. Also most material sound like its from different eras. Stylistically most tracks are late 80’s mosh-metalish with hints of noise. SKV’s trademark growls and an ultra nasty production lift this above average and there are a lot of dark and weird non-typical intervals in and between tracks. Most interesting piece is the Phenomenal Exile In Schizophrenic Patients, a 20 minutes compilation of (white) noise tracks and aural soundscapes. The artwork is once again unbeatable. Details: Fantastic repro 7” of this super rare raging hardcore split single from 1982 from WRETCHED and IDIGESTI. It comes with stamped sleeves, red labels and all three inserts. An original would set you back nearly one thousand Euros. WRETCHED debuted on their 1982 split EP with INDIGESTI. The music the band created was furious and raw, with trashed guitars, shrieked vocals, and barely-holding-on drums. Although they originally sang in English, they soon switched to ther natice Italian, finding it better suited to expressing their radical political message. The band took strong anti-war and pro-anarchist stands through their lyrics and imagery.

His kids need feeding and the missus is going mental. So over 10 pints and a bag of pork scratchings they came up with the idea of starting their own label. So here is record number one on JT Classics which does what is says on the tin. Has Johnny Takeaway on it and is Classic. 'We're The Fucking George - Singles 1978 - 1981' has 15 tracks on it compiled from singles and released between 1994 and 2011. The geezer who did the artwork got the dates wrong and it was too fucking late to change.
In case you haven't heard Hard Skin. You are missing out!! They are fucking brilliant. It's Oi! but done like the old days when it was good. Ploddy, angry, basic and anthemic.
The LP doesn't come with a download because real Skinheads don't use computers.

IMPALERS – demo 7”

Details: Normally I’m not a fan of pressing demos to vinyl, but this is certainly an exception. These chaps are from Austin and play some ripping metal-tinged D-beat. The vocals have a cool, tunnel-y echo effect and the riffs are bona fide (although a couple of the solos are a bit over indulgent). You need solid guitar work in bands like this; otherwise the songs can be super-generic and instantly forgettable. Luckily, these guys can really shred. I’m stoked to see this band at Chaos in Tejas and am expecting that their live show will meet, if not exceed, the ardent nature of this records. Highly recommended for everyone, not just genre fans.
